Some of my favorites

As a painter, I love the moments where a piece shifts directions, and these four favorite floral paintings represent that exact journey. Strikingly bright and full of life, these canvases resonate deeply with me because they captures the shift from my initial sketches into unexpected, beautifully bloomed final realities.

Late To The Brush

I did not plan to be a painter. I started just a few years ago during a challenging stretch of life as a way to maintain positivity and build a visual record of the journey. There is more than one piece in the portfolio that began as a raging vermillion swath or a plaintive cobalt shadow. Emotions are the lifeblood of my work. As a “vintage” woman, this painting practice is my reason to rise and shine every morning.

Straight From Memory

Nothing here is copied from a photograph. My work come out of imagination and whatever I remember.

Painted Daily

I paint every day. Not for a deadline and not for a gallery, just because it is the best part of my day.

Not Just For Decor

I do not paint to match a sofa. If a color feels right to me, it goes on the canvas.

Built Up In Layers

I work in acrylic, and sometimes in mixed media. A painting gets worked over and over until it feels finished, which is usually later than I expect it to. Irises, peonies, water lilies, succulents, grapevines. Occasionally a landscape, occasionally something with no subject at all. Every one of them is an original on canvas, and there is only ever one.

Where It Ends Up

I think a lot about where these end up. I would like them in the homes of people who are happy, or who want to be, and who do not mind a bit of noise on the wall. My work is loud. It is not restful and it does not blend in. If that sounds like your kind of room, we will get along.

More In The Studio

There is more work than what has made it onto these pages, and there will be more again before long. I paint faster than I photograph. If you are after something particular, a size or a color or a flower you love, write to me and I will tell you what is available right now. It is always worth asking.
