Late To The Brush
I did not plan to be a painter. I started just a few years ago during a challenging stretch of life as a way to maintain positivity and build a visual record of the journey. There is more than one piece in the portfolio that began as a raging vermillion swath or a plaintive cobalt shadow. Emotions are the lifeblood of my work. As a “vintage†woman, this painting practice is my reason to rise and shine every morning.

I work in acrylic, and sometimes in mixed media. A painting gets worked over and over until it feels finished, which is usually later than I expect it to. Irises, peonies, water lilies, succulents, grapevines. Occasionally a landscape, occasionally something with no subject at all. Every one of them is an original on canvas, and there is only ever one.
